Curriculum

KIT is one of the leading research institutes in many areas of Materials Science and Technology, which provides the basis for excellent education in this interdisciplinary research area.

The bilingual orientation of the program fosters the exchange of different nations and cultures.

Study Schedule

After starting the degree with comprehensive major courses in Materials Science (Thermodynamics, Kinetics, Materials Characterization, Simulation and Properties), students choose two out of four focal courses, thereby deciding their specialization according to their interest: Functional Materials, Materials Processing, Computational Material Science or Structural Materials.

Furthermore, the program includes a mandatory nine-week internship. This allows students to gain contacts and insight into the world-leading German industry sector.

In the master thesis in the last semester of the program, students independently work on a problem according to scientific methods. The two-year program is awarded with 120 ECTS.

See the module manual and the study schedule (Studienverlaufsplan) for more information.
